The Graduation Ceremony of the first cohort of the Master in Finance and Investment Management

In the morning of November 18, 2017, at Auditorium A.103, 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu Campus, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) solemnly held the Graduation Ceremony of the joint Master program in Finance and Investment Management between the School of Finance (UEH) and the University of Aberdeen (UA), UK.

On the University of Aberdeen’s side were Prof. Mark Whittington. Representatives of UEH were Assoc. Prof. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet – Vice President; Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai – Vice President; Prof. Tran Ngoc Tho; along with distinguished guests, lecturers, students and their families and friends.

In this graduation ceremony, the seven  Master candidates were honorably awarded their Master of Finance and Investment Management by Aberdeen University. Mr. Tien Truong Ngo – Representative for the 7 Master candidates, shared his incredible personal experience of the first day in the city of Aberdeen: “There are so many breathtaking scenes and castles with grandiose structures that I have never seen in Vietnam, especially Sir Duncan Rice Library and two campuses New King and King College. I just want to spend my whole day studying there”, he also talked about his restless studying and arduous training time. To adapt the new environment, Tien and his friends did study plans, group work and provided support to each other. Thanks to the sincere support from lecturers and Vietnamese PhD candidates in Aberdeen, he managed to grasp the proper study methods and excellently completed his course.

Tien remarked: “I want to send my special thanks to the lecturers from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Aberdeen, family and friends. Thank you all for giving me this amazing opportunity to experience the British tradition and gaining knowledge. We turn dreams into reality. We proved that: We can do anything and turn the impossible into possible”.

The University of Aberdeen was founded in 1495, making it the third oldest university in Scotland and fifth oldest in the UK. Five Nobel Prize winners are associated with the University. UA offers international standard studying conditions, accredited by Chartered Association of Business Schools. The 1st study term includes 4 subjects: Corporate Finance, Empirical Method of Quantitative Analysis, Economics and Accounting. The 2nd term includes 4 subjects: Portfolio Analysis, Empirical Methods in Finance Research, Financial Analysis and Markets, Studies in Finance. The 3rd period takes place in Vietnam with the dissertation writing under the direct guidance of a UA professor.
